The Road Commission of Kalamazoo County met Tuesday, May 7th in their newly constructed facility on 26th Street here are some of the highlights. The Commissioners unanimously approved the purchase of a truck mounted spray injection patcher - the “durapatcher” unit uses a spray injection process to repair potholes, cracks, and other road issues. The process combines crushed aggregate and hot asphalt emulsion with forced air. The patcher can be mounted on a conventional or cab-over chassis, and the driver can work in the truck cab while the patcher repairs potholes in front of the truck. The Commissioners also approved the purchase of 12 Kenwood 2-way radios for a total of $8,393. Purchasing these radios will save the Commission the cost of equipment rental.
