This overage increase will help to cap contaminated soil and prevent further spreading of contamination. The project will host a new Marriott hotel. The developer is requesting the increase to build a new 4-story hotel on a site with existing soil contamination. The city staff supports the request due to the environmental benefits of limiting vulnerable surfaces on the contaminated site.
