OHS 2015 : Gabriella Snyder - 2015

Gabriella Snyder is a singer and composer of opera, songs, choral and instrumental music. Her two operas/music dramas, “The Rough-Face Girl: An Algonquin Cinderella” and “Prince of Peace – A Passion Play,” were both premiered in the Boston area. She’s performed roles with opera companies in the Boston area, such as Mass Theatrica, New Opera Theater Ensemble (N.O.T.E.), Newton Opera Workshop, Lowell House Opera. She’s also been a soloist with the several local and Cape Cod choral groups. She was the principal singer and mountain dulcimer player with The Sacred Harp Ensemble – a group she founded to perform traditional American sacred music. She performed at festivals and coffeehouses throughout New England for 4 years as part of the duo, Snyder & Rasmussen. Her CD Ancient Christmas – Songs & Carols showcases rarely heard folk and traditional carols. Gabriella lives with her husband in Malden, MA, where she teaches singing privately. She has worked for over 25 years as the Special Projects Coordinator with Bread of Life, a faith-based, volunteer-oriented free food program for low-income and homeless people.
