Summit Family Aquatic Center Presents: Drowning Prevention Show

Judith L. Josephs, Director of Summit Community Programs and President of the Aquatic Section of NJ speaks with Frank Macioce of Hometowne TV at the Summit Family Aquatic Center on the important subject of drowning prevention. Drowning remains the leading cause of unintended, injury-related death for children ages 1 through 4 and the second leading cause of accidental death for children under the age of 14. These alarming statistics heighten the sense of urgency in educating the public on water safety techniques including – but not limited to – life jacket safety, CPR/AED training, and designating “Water Watchers” when in or around any body of water. Research shows that participation in formal swimming lessons alone can reduce the risk of drowning by 88% among children ages 1 through 4. In this segment, Josephs will guide viewers through a number of water safety tips and techniques to ensure everyone will become more water safety aware and learn to protect themselves and others while around water.
