Pikku Malla is a strict nature reserve. This area is about 80 meters from the rapids that feed Lake Kilpisjärvi from the mountains in Norway.
Recorded at several different vineyards in and around Krems, Austria from April - June 2014.
Krems, about 80 km West of Vienna is on the Danube River. During several recording sessions, I used a hydrophone in the river to gather the sounds from the barge engines along with piezo disks and small microphones for other sounds.
I began to experiment with carbon fiber rods when recording from the patio of the apartment of the Artist in Residence (AIR) program in Krems. The area has had sustainable agricultural practices for 600 years. Now, we are in the Age of Carbon.

Finland has practiced sustainable forestry for more than 100 years. Recorded in April 2015 at the Hyytiälä Forestry Field Station.
Chronologically ordered pieces from Aug 2014 - Jan 2016 recorded north of the Arctic Circle in Finland, Norway, Russia and Sweden with piezo disks and a hydrophone.
