The Learned Kindred of Currie and the Pipes of Christmas continue their journey through Advent with a very special guitar solo from our musical director, Steve Gibb from Inverness, Scotland.
In this video, Gibb pays tribute to legendary classical guitarist Julian Bream who passed away earlier this year.Gibb performs the lovely "Melancholy Galliard," composed by John Dowland. This video was shot at the chapel of the lovely Central Presbyterian Church in Summit, NJ - our concert "home" for the last 21 years. Our Festival of Advent continues through next week before we bring you an extended virtual concert on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The Pipes of Christmas is the major fundraiser for all the outreach programs of the Learned Kindred of Currie, including musical scholarships, event sponsorship, special events and documentary films and museum exhibitions.
The Pipes of Christmas offers a new approach to their annual concert by responding to the current pandemic situation with this festival of beloved Christmas carols filmed across historic locations in Scotland.
