David Heidel shared his story during the last months of his life. He is a legend in Sheboygan County.
David gave back to his local community, serving as a board member and president of the Adell Co-Op, GrassWorks, Inc., and as a member of the Town of Sherman planning commission for many years. David was a staunch advocate and leader of grazing and organic farming in Wisconsin. In 2005 he receive the Honorary Recognition Award from the University of Wisconsin-Madison for his farming. One of his life successes was seeing his grazing dairy farm continue on at the hands of his daughter and son-in- law. David loved his cows, grazing, and farming until the end, and was affectionately called "Farmer Dave" by many around him in his later years. David could often be found sitting on his porch with the "million dollar view", looking out at his farm, cows, and chickens, often sharing the view with friends and farm customers.
