Hurricane Helene 1 Year Anniversary Tribute Song To Aiken

Today, we look back on the events of one year ago and remember when Hurricane Helene came through Aiken. The storm caused great damage, but it also showed the true strength and character of our community. We remember how people came from all over to bring back a sense of normal life and how City staff worked day and night to restore our City after Helene. With strong leadership and the help of elected officials, partnering agencies, and utility companies, Aiken came together and stood strong. Through photos taken by Aiken resident and freelance photographer Allen Riddick, and images from the City, we remember not only the impact of the storm, but also the resilience, teamwork, and dedication that carried us through. One year later, we honor everyone who served, supported, and stood with Aiken. In this “Best Small Town,” our character continues to shine in the face of every challenge.
