Fitchburg officials presented several possible changes to the city’s trash program as they prepare for rising disposal costs and the eventual closure of the Fitchburg-Westminster landfill.

Following a City Council presentation, residents gathered at a community meeting to raise questions about the proposed fees, illegal dumping, landfill capacity and how much households could ultimately pay. No new trash fee has been approved.
