Fitchburg police are using walking patrols to strengthen relationships with residents, business owners and people in need throughout the downtown area.

By stepping outside their cruisers, officers can remain visible, address concerns directly and build the trust needed to prevent problems before they escalate. In a North Central News exclusive, we joined the Fitchburg Police Department on patrol to see how officers are using their presence downtown to connect with the community and respond to concerns before they become emergencies.
