On Monday July 17th community leaders and advocates hosted a baby stroller brigade in an effort to raise awareness of the plan by management of the Leominster Hospital to close the birthing unit in September of 2023. The Issue is set to go before the MASS. Department of Public Health on July 24th to evaluate if it is an essential service to the community. Many people in Leominster and the surrounding communities hope the the state will declare the birthing center an essential service and that this decision will convince the hospital's management to change their minds and cancel the plan to close the birthing center.
