Austin Area Heritage Council presents Martin Luther King, Jr. Children’s Oratory Competition at ACC

Austin Area Heritage Council (AAHC) celebrated Dr. King’s dream and building on his inspiration with the 21st annual MLK Children’s Oratory Competition held at Austin Community College Highland Campus. Elementary school finalists from Austin and surrounding areas presented powerful five-minute speeches on this year’s oratory theme: “If Dr. King were alive today, what would you share with him based on the present- day situation/issues which are more prominent in people’s lives today? To help his dream become a reality for the world, how would you personally make these changes?” Students were encouraged to highlight contemporary issues while reflecting Dr. King’s principles of peace, justice, and unity. Cash prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
