Rutland Loyalty Day Parade History Rutland VFW Post 648, in 1963, 56 years ago started the Loyalty Day Parade in Rutland, on the first Sunday in May, on Downtown Rutland's streets. Loyalty Day is observed annually on May 1st. In the United States, National Loyalty Day is a special holiday meant for there affirmation of loyalty of the United States of America, and for there cognition of the heritage ofAmerican freedom. Loyalty Day was made an official reoccurring holiday on July 18,1958, although it was first recognized on May 1, 1955. Loyalty Day has been honored with an official proclamation every year, by every president, since its inception as a legal holiday in 1958. Loyalty Day will be observed on Friday, May 1, 2020. Loyalty Day kicks off National Military Appreciation Month each year.
