The contributions of Exeter’s Black population has often been overlooked when examining the history of our town. On-going research has broadened our understanding of Exeter’s Black heritage. Curator Barbara Rimkunas will discuss the challenges faced by the Black community through the stories of several notable families and will examine some of the reasons the population declined in the late 19th century.
