There are many avid Red Sox fans...and then there is Marie Brown. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Marie became enamored with our beloved baseball team from the day she moved to Wellesley in 1979. She never missed watching the game on TV and her zealous devotion peaked in 2004 when the Red Sox won their first World Series in 86 years. To honor the team, Marie published an award- winning children’s book, “86 Years: The Legend of the Boston Red Sox.” She and the author, Melinda R. Boroson, appeared on local television and radio programs and amazingly, the book was featured in People Magazine as a “pick-of-the-week” as well as included in the issue’s feature article on gifts Ben Affleck received for his newborn daughter. Her passion has never waned—in 2013 Marie published “This is Our City –How the Red Sox Kept Boston Strong” as a tribute to the team’s miraculous World Series win to bolster the city’s recovery after the Marathon Bombing.
