ER CYA - Just For Kids 1951
Imagine a place where kids can go, either after school or on the weekend that offers a safe and fun environment to socialize and learn. They can do crafts, learn wood working, square dancing and the basics in boxing. There’s basketball, ping-pong, pool, cards, checkers, shuffleboard, and trips to the movies. This was East Rochester’s CYO (Columbus Youth Asociation) back in 1951. This original 16mm motion picture film was stored at the East Rochester Department of Local History and restored by ERCN’s production crew. If you watch closely you’ll see both Jim Burlingame (who as a teen, helped to produce this film), and ERCN’s favorite cooking show host: Miele Battaglini. Enjoy a trip back in time to see what East Rochester was like over 60 years ago.
