  1. Everyone the 2020 ceremony

  2. ceremonies today as we celebrate the hard work,

  3. perseverance, and achievements of the class of 2026.

  4. At this time, I would like to call.

  5. At this time I would like to call up

  6. to the front the seniors

  7. of the Natick High School choral program for the singing

  8. of the school's alma mater and our national anthem.

  9. You, yeah.

  10. To the, our heart

  11. shall Bring to the

  12. through all

  13. Before the red and blue,

  14. and they roll colors high

  15. and bring the,

  16. At this time, would you all please rise for the singing

  17. of our national anthem?

  18. Oh, say, can you see Boy?

  19. The Dancer are like What?

  20. So proud at the Twice

  21. Lights, who's strip

  22. and bright stars.

  23. The the, the

  24. where the

  25. and the rock

  26. that our flag

  27. was that.

  28. Now to deliver the welcome address, I am pleased

  29. to introduce Dr.

  30. Melissa Bash, superintendent of the Natick Public Schools,

  31. Good evening, graduates families, faculty, staff,

  32. school committee members, dignitaries and guests.

  33. I also want to thank the local, state and local leader

  34. and state leaders joining us tonight

  35. for their continued support

  36. for Natick students at our schools.

  37. I'm Dr. Melissa Fash, your proud superintendent,

  38. and tonight it's my true privilege

  39. to celebrate Natick High's class of 2026.

  40. Rachel.

Over the course of this year,

  41. I've had the opportunity to attend sports games, art shows,

  42. concerts, classrooms

  43. and community events across this district.

  44. And one thing I can tell you

  45. with great confidence across this community,

  46. people are very proud of native kids, your educators,

  47. coaches, advisors, families, staff members and neighbors.

  48. They talk about your talent, your work ethic, your kindness,

  49. your creativity, and the way you show up for one another.

  50. Not because you got everything right all the time, not

  51. because everything always came easily, but

  52. because of the way you carried yourself through challenges

  53. and supported one another and kept moving forward.

  54. There's a certain steadiness to this class.

  55. You work, you contribute, and you figure things out

  56. and you understand

  57. that something can get lost today in a world built

  58. around shortcuts, quick reactions and constant comparison.

  59. Most worthwhile things take time.

  60. Recently I've been reading

  61. and watching quite a bit about Theodore Roosevelt.

  62. Don't worry, this is not turning into AP US history.

  63. But what I did has stayed with me

  64. as I thought about this class.

  65. Roosevelt wrote about quote, the person in the arena,

  66. unquote, the one willing to try, willing to risk failure,

  67. willing to put themselves out there.

  68. Even when success is not guaranteed.

  69. That image really holds up

  70. because it's easy to critique from the sidelines

  71. and it's harder to audition, to compete, perform, apply,

  72. lead, create, speak up, and to start over

  73. after you're disappointed.

  74. But that's what growth actually looks like.

  75. And honestly, your generation has had to do a lot of that.

  76. You grew up in a world where everybody appears successful

  77. all the time, where people post the highlights

  78. and maybe hide the hard parts when there's pressure

  79. to always sound certain, confident and impressive.

  80. But real life is usually not so polished.

  81. Most people are figuring out things as they go.

  82. One thing I hope you carry with you

  83. after tonight is that who you become is more important than

  84. how impressive you are years from now.

  85. People are not going to remember your GPA,

  86. your follower count

  87. or whether you had every step

  88. of your future mapped out at 18.

  89. They'll remember if you were reliable,

  90. whether you treated people decently,

  91. whether you stayed grounded, when things got difficult,

  92. and whether others could count on you.

  93. Roosevelt also said, people do not care how much you know

  94. until they know how much you care.

  95. That applies everywhere at work, on teams, in friendships,

  96. in families and communities.

  97. The people who leave the strongest impression are usually

  98. not the loudest one in the room.

  99. They're the people who show up

  100. and who stay curious, who work hard without needing

  101. attention for it and who make other people feel respected.

  102. And this class is filled with people

  103. who are already beginning to build lives that way.

  104. Some of you're heading to college, some of you into careers,

  105. military service, apprenticeships, travel,

  106. or maybe your plans are still taking shape.

  107. Every single one of those paths is valid.

  108. There's no single formula for building a good life,

  109. but there are still questions worth

  110. asking yourself along the way.

  111. What do you want your life to stand for?

  112. What kind of relationships do you want to build?

  113. What kind of reputation do you earn when nobody's handing

  114. out grades, awards, or titles anymore?

  115. And maybe the biggest question is this,

  116. when people leave your presence,

  117. are they better because you were there?

  118. Wherever you go next, I hope you'll stay willing

  119. to try difficult things.

  120. I hope you stay open-minded.

  121. I hope you protect your sense of humor,

  122. and I hope you continue building relationships in a world

  123. that increasingly pushes people apart.

  124. The world does not need more people sitting safely on the

  125. sidelines criticizing others.

  126. It needs people stepping into the arena, people

  127. who contribute and try who take responsibility, adapt

  128. and keep going when things get tough.

  129. Tonight is a celebration of what you've accomplished so far,

  130. but it's also a starting point.

  131. Class of 2026. Your families are tremendously proud of you.

  132. Your school is so very proud of you

  133. and your community truly believes in you.

  134. Congratulations and as you leave Natick High School

  135. and move into whatever comes next, my wish for you is this,

  136. that you continue to step into the arena

  137. that you build lives filled with strong relationships,

  138. meaningful work, curiosity

  139. and experiences that challenge and change you.

  140. That you stay grounded in

  141. who you are while remaining open to who you're becoming.

  142. And that years from now, when people describe you,

  143. they speak not only about what you achieved,

  144. but about the kind of person you chose to be.

  145. Congratulations. Class of 2026.

  146. Thank you, Dr. Stash.

  147. Next I would like to call up Matt Brand, the chair

  148. of the Natick School Committee

  149. to present the Awards of Excellence.

  150. Good evening, class of 2026.

  151. I am here to present the awards

  152. for outstanding academic achievement.

  153. But first I'm gonna share a few thoughts.

  154. I feel immensely proud and I know I'm far from alone.

  155. I feel proud knowing what you've all achieved to get here,

  156. not just in school but in life.

  157. I am proud to know so many of you

  158. and confident that you have a great chance

  159. to make a difference in the world.

  160. Whatever your plans are next, wherever you go from here,

  161. you have a chance every day to make the world better.

  162. Take a moment to think about a person

  163. who has made a difference in your life.

  164. Maybe that person's a teacher,

  165. maybe a family member or a friend.

  166. If they're a teacher, I bet you aren't thinking of them

  167. because of what subject they taught.

  168. It's probably because of how they made you feel,

  169. how they made the classroom a good place to be

  170. and an even better place to learn.

  171. They made a difference in ways that you'll remember forever.

  172. We all have people in our lives

  173. who have made our worlds better.

  174. It's almost never because of the things they do, but rather

  175. because of who they are.

  176. Now it's your turn.

  177. And this is the part my daughters would say is too cringey

  178. to include in a graduation speech,

  179. but my daughters aren't up here and I am.

  180. Each day you have a chance

  181. to make a difference for someone else.

  182. It won't always be easy.

  183. There will be days you don't feel up for it,

  184. but I believe you'll figure it out.

  185. And when you do, the world is better.

  186. I'm sure along the way you face challenges you thought

  187. you could not overcome.

  188. But here you are, thanks to your effort

  189. and the support of the people closest to you.

  190. You've done it after all that hard work.

  191. You've made it to this moment.

  192. Today marks the official end of your beginning.

  193. And while that's an incredible accomplishment,

  194. I have some bad news for you.

  195. As you begin again, the challenges will continue.

  196. Some might seem insurmountable,

  197. but you maybe you won't get the job you applied for.

  198. Maybe you'll lose a friend.

  199. Maybe you won't get tickets to that Noaha Khan concert.

  200. But there'll be more proud moments.

  201. You will get a job promotion. You will make more friends.

  202. Maybe. Maybe you'll even be lucky enough to get the chance

  203. to speak at your daughter's high school graduation.

  204. I believe in you. I believe that you are difference makers.

  205. You can continue to make the world better

  206. and I cannot wait to find out how you'll do it.

  207. So here is a challenge for all of you

  208. that even I know is cringey.

  209. Go make a difference.

  210. We all know you have it in you to everyone in the class

  211. of 2026, including my daughter who is sitting in

  212. that general direction.

  213. Congratulations.

  214. And now I'm going to read the names of the recipients

  215. of the outstanding academic award winners.

  216. Ava Cecile Bars. You can

  217. Picture, picture, picture.

  218. Krista, Emily, be

  219. Sophie, Noel Forgery,

  220. Kenneth Chu,

  221. Michael Joseph, cap,

  222. San

  223. Samantha Marie McMorrow.

  224. Alan Frederick Steinman.

  225. Doris you.

  226. Grace Jang.

  227. Thank you.

  228. Thank you Mr. Brand.

  229. Now we will move forward to the graduation address given

  230. by Miss Josepha blocker, principal of Natick High School

  231. School Committee members, Natick, public school educators

  232. and staff, families, friends, and of course graduates.

  233. It is my honor as the principal of Natick High School

  234. to address you for a few moments this evening.

  235. Before we begin,

  236. I wanna thank a few people supported the class of 2026,

  237. beginning with the class advisors, Ms.

  238. Jessica Sini and Ms. Becky Tramonti.

  239. They helped the class officers for the last four years

  240. with everything related to the class from collecting dues

  241. to creating a magical prom night last Friday.

  242. Next, I want to thank interim vice principal Trisha Ciao,

  243. who seamlessly coordinated all the details big

  244. and small that make this ceremony so special.

  245. She has worked tirelessly alongside our custodial staff

  246. and our main office team.

  247. Thank you to them. As well

  248. as our maintenance staff led by Mr.

  249. Jim Rooney, Mr. DJ Morris, and Mr.

  250. Bill Sprat, our team of administrative assistants led by Ms.

  251. Michelle Daigle, our sound crew, led by Mr.

  252. Joe Eel from all things audio, our student musicians led

  253. by music department faculty, Mr. Craig Chisholm, Ms.

  254. Bethany Spielman, and Mr. Scott Morrell

  255. and our speech team readers

  256. and coaches who are here today to read the graduates names.

  257. They have prepared our student leaders.

  258. We wanna thank Pegasus Broadcasting led

  259. by Mr. Randy Brewer and Mr.

  260. Caleb Wood who are broadcasting this ceremony.

  261. To those of you watching from home, we'd like

  262. to thank the Department of Public Works led

  263. by Mr. Scott Bakari, who helped set up for today.

  264. And last, but certainly not least, graduates, you did it.

  265. Each graduating class leaves a legacy at Natick High School,

  266. both in large and small ways.

  267. And tonight I would like to talk about the legacy

  268. your class leaves and what legacy means.

  269. Ray Bradbury talks about legacy in his novel

  270. Fahrenheit 4 51.

  271. He says, it doesn't matter what you do, so long

  272. as you change something from the way it was

  273. before you touched it into something that's like you

  274. after you take your hands away.

  275. And as I think about the class of 2026, here are some

  276. of the ways that you have touched NHS and our community.

  277. First, you are leaders.

  278. No matter what you chose to pursue, you stepped up to lead.

  279. You paved the way as some

  280. of our first Natick high school teaching assistants,

  281. helping underclass students across various curriculum areas,

  282. including our multilingual learners to math in theater.

  283. For the first time in recent years,

  284. you gave such strong proposals for student directed shows

  285. that we put on two student directed productions.

  286. You have taken a larger role in leading our ninth grade

  287. mentorship program, running even more

  288. of the welcoming process for our freshmen.

  289. And you were among some of the first students in the state

  290. to present at the Governor's Healthy Youth Summit,

  291. commanding a room of your peers as well

  292. as educators across the state.

  293. You are also global citizens.

  294. Bridging the gap in our collective

  295. understanding of each other.

  296. You participate in an online cultural exchange

  297. with peers in Finland hosted those peers

  298. when they visited the us.

  299. Your studies have taken you to France, Spain, China,

  300. Eastern Europe, the Galapagos, and Peru.

  301. You've led workshops on equity, created culture fairs

  302. and served on panels, educating your peers about cultures.

  303. You have also fully devoted yourselves to language learning.

  304. Tonight we are giving out more diplomas with the state seal

  305. of Biliteracy than ever

  306. before, indicating that many

  307. of you are truly fluent in another language.

  308. You have excelled academically and artistically.

  309. In fact, over your four years at NHS,

  310. we have almost doubled the number of AP exams

  311. that we have given you.

  312. Paved the way for that excellence.

  313. You revived our science fair for the first time in 15 years

  314. and led by class of 2026

  315. Natick Team Radiance ranked third

  316. amongst area schools in the Tenacity Challenge.

  317. Your speech and debate team qualified for nationals

  318. for the second year in a row,

  319. and you had work accepted in the emerging young artists

  320. and designers juried exhibition.

  321. You have sung and danced your way to gold

  322. and silver medals as part of West Street singers,

  323. chamber singers, wind ensemble and concert band.

  324. And you even beat our faculty in the recent faculty student

  325. science and math bowl.

  326. But Mr. Sanford asked me not to dwell too much on that one

  327. glass of 2026.

  328. You also know what it means to take care of your community.

  329. You've led blood drives and coat drives and food drives.

  330. You've stood up for students with disabilities

  331. by raising $16,000 this year as part of the polar plunge.

  332. And both competed and ran in the unified track

  333. and field finals by serving Natick

  334. and through Serve Natick.

  335. You showed up and you showed us what it means

  336. to take care of one another.

  337. You are also distinguished athletes. Wow. Are you athletes?

  338. You won the state championship in girls and boys soccer.

  339. You won many individual championships in cross

  340. country and track.

  341. You represented Natick and nationals in track

  342. and gymnastics.

  343. You won the 30th Bay State League title in wrestling

  344. and won Bay State titles in Swim and Dive.

  345. And you won the MIAA unified Special Olympics track

  346. and Field state championship

  347. for an unprecedented four years in a row.

  348. You took our dance and cheer teams to new heights

  349. and showed good sportsmanship in large and small ways.

  350. Winning awards for character from the Boston Bruins

  351. and the MIAA.

  352. You are beasts with the hacky sack in the courtyard, which

  353. as a child of the nineties, makes my heart happy.

  354. Though I'm not sure it fully qualifies as a sport.

  355. And when one of you in a moment of poor aim

  356. accidentally be Mr.

  357. Hoy with an applesauce from two floors above

  358. you were appropriately apologetic.

  359. And I think he has almost forgiven you.

  360. Even when one of our first senior pranks in recent memory,

  361. when you left a garden

  362. of plastic cutlery stuck in the front lawn,

  363. you were kind enough to leave our custodians a note.

  364. Please don't clean up. We will. And you did.

  365. You are true characters and you truly have character

  366. By all measures.

  367. You have succeeded at fulfilling our portrait of graduate.

  368. You are resilient. You know how to work together.

  369. You show empathy for each other.

  370. You show initiative, self-direction,

  371. and strong problem solving skills.

  372. And you are smart in insightful, and you show character.

  373. We are so proud of you.

  374. So as you leave us, I want to tell you a few things

  375. that we have learned from you.

  376. Each year. Our youngest

  377. and oldest students are allowed to dress up for Halloween.

  378. And this is one of my favorite days of the year.

  379. For one of the last times I get to see our oldest students

  380. with childlike joy working together

  381. to bring joy to our school.

  382. So here are the top 10 things I learned from the class

  383. of 2026 Halloween.

  384. One good things come to those who wait.

  385. We watched you through the earlier grades,

  386. patiently wait your turn.

  387. And this year you came in some

  388. of the most creative costumes from traffic cones

  389. and construction workers to an army of minions.

  390. Two things are most fun when you do them with friends.

  391. It's hard to dress up

  392. as a centipede if you only have two legs.

  393. It makes most sense if you have friends around with you.

  394. Three, life is more fun when there's a

  395. soundtrack going in the background.

  396. Plan your own music and grab a wireless speaker.

  397. Four, whatever you do, go all in.

  398. Wear the inflatable alien costume for eight hours.

  399. Dawn, head to toe blue makeup as a blue man.

  400. Whatever it is, don't go halfway.

  401. Five, think carefully about who or what you want to be.

  402. Is it your time to stand out as an individual

  403. or be part of a group?

  404. What is your role to play? Be purposeful in the choice. Six.

  405. Sometimes it's okay

  406. to try on an idea in the journey of becoming.

  407. Most decisions aren't permanent.

  408. It may require a little effort to change.

  409. Seven, when you are having fun, others will too.

  410. Our ninth and through 11th graders shared in your fun

  411. that day and so did your teachers.

  412. Eight. Don't take yourself too seriously all the time.

  413. For some of the time, it's okay

  414. to be a little goofy or silly.

  415. Just know where and when.

  416. Nine, no matter how old you get, there will be opportunities

  417. to be childlike again.

  418. And when those moments come, take them. 10.

  419. The last thing I learned from the class of 2026, Halloween

  420. is a good sense of humor

  421. and a little chocolate can solve most things.

  422. Class of 2026.

  423. I am grateful for being part of your journey

  424. and know that you will go on to do great things.

  425. You have left a real legacy here

  426. and we hope that you think fondly

  427. of your time at Natick High School.

  428. Please know that you will always be a member of the nest.

  429. Thank you principal blocker.

  430. Now let's welcome our class President Owen Ford

  431. for the class president address.

  432. You know, I sat and watched a speech last year

  433. and thought, look how old Good.

  434. Oh, thank you. Thank you, thank you. I was gonna lean over.

  435. Yeah. Okay. Thank you. Good service. Thanks.

  436. I sat and watched a speech last year

  437. and thought, look how old

  438. and wise I'm gonna be when I

  439. give this speech a year from now.

  440. So as the old and wide pers wise person I was when I wrote

  441. this, I had to decide what these final words

  442. as a NAIC student were going to be.

  443. I thought for a second I just rattled off jokes about

  444. everyone's favorite economic teacher, Mr. Ford.

  445. Talk about him boiling tea during class

  446. or him wearing those giant over the ear

  447. earbuds on his hall duty.

  448. I mean, I, I had some material,

  449. but it just didn't, it didn't feel right

  450. because it wasn't how I wanted to talk about this town.

  451. Making fun of my dad would be disingenuous.

  452. I love him as a teacher, a soccer coach, and a dad.

  453. He does so much to make this town better.

  454. I appreciate him for that.

  455. And so on the theme of appreciation, instead

  456. of taking this opportunity to crack some jokes or to try

  457. and come up with some life-changing advice, I'd like

  458. to use it as one extended appreciation speech to Natick,

  459. to Natick Public Schools to the class of 2026.

  460. And to all of you sitting here today.

  461. Now that is not really an easy task.

  462. Pointing to just one thing

  463. or just a handful of things that make this town

  464. and our school special is not easy.

  465. Sure, there are the obvious metrics,

  466. the ones that look nice on paper.

  467. Our overwhelmingly dominant sports programs,

  468. including our state championship soccer teams this year,

  469. our vast and varied academic success from speech

  470. and debate nationals to our truly spectacular outcomes on

  471. our standardized tests and our incredible results

  472. for our widely awarded arts programs

  473. with the West Street singers

  474. bringing home the most recent win.

  475. They've all been truly amazing to see.

  476. But the way I see it, to list these all off

  477. as distinct accomplishments is a failure

  478. to acknowledge the bigger picture.

  479. The success we have had is, as Ms.

  480. Samara would say, statistically significant.

  481. It isn't random. Our successes say something about our town

  482. identity, about our culture.

  483. The things I really value about this town are small.

  484. It's the teachers who stay late,

  485. even when their union contract says that they can go home

  486. or run a club completely unpaid.

  487. It's the unstoppable

  488. Special Olympics teams that we've built.

  489. And it's the thousands of people, young

  490. and old parents of kindergartners to parents

  491. of past graduates who volunteer around Natick as part

  492. of our massive community service programs.

  493. I mean, I probably take more pride in this than most do,

  494. but having grown up as a part of Natick soccer

  495. and continuing in the organization as a referee,

  496. it is just astounding how we can put on one

  497. of the largest tournaments in the state without paying a

  498. single person an entire entire tournament run

  499. only by volunteers.

  500. And so as much as these themselves are things to be grateful

  501. for the programs which we use every day, I think

  502. that they serve a much more important role in our lives

  503. that we often take for granted.

  504. It provides us the kids, a community of leaders

  505. and role models to aspire to emulate a town, to cherish

  506. and to work for everywhere you look here,

  507. there are role models and it is these people,

  508. this community which has instilled in me the values

  509. that I hold so dearly of togetherness, of civic involvement,

  510. of personal sacrifice, and of a respect for traditions.

  511. And so I'd like to wrap up on that note

  512. of appreciation that I started with.

  513. You have to appreciate that you're going to be a graduate

  514. of Natick High School wherever you go next.

  515. In fact, you are going to be a graduate

  516. of Natick High School for the rest of your lives.

  517. And so with the privilege of growing up in natick

  518. of gaining the values that you have

  519. and of living surrounded by people who care,

  520. you now have the opportunity

  521. to approach the world trying to build it.

  522. How someone from Natick would, if I can offer one sliver

  523. of wisdom today, it's for you to take advantage

  524. of this opportunity to sacrifice your time, your comfort,

  525. your sleep at night to make the world around you better,

  526. to develop community

  527. and love in your own lives

  528. the same way it has been developed here for you.

  529. And so, however this town showed up for you,

  530. it is now your turn to show up for others in

  531. that same deep caring way.

  532. The mantle has been passed.

  533. It is now upon you to take the work that the people

  534. of Natick have done to support you

  535. and to echo that in your future, to appreciate

  536. what has been given to you, to be the person

  537. that this community tries to create

  538. and to choose to be the natick in others' lives.

  539. Thank you and congratulations.

  540. Gonna just lower this a bit. Thank you, Owen.

  541. Next we have one of the senior addresses

  542. by Nick Ellis, Bon Pharaoh.

  543. Before I start my speech, I do wanna get a photo

  544. of my class real quick.

  545. Wrong way. Hold up.

  546. Thank you. Hi everyone.

  547. Classmates, families, faculty members and friends.

  548. I'll be honest, public speaking isn't really my thing.

  549. But if there's one thing I wanted to do

  550. before graduating was to give a speech in front of my class.

  551. And against all odds, here I am, try not to sweat so much.

  552. I wanted to share a bill about why I decided to do this.

  553. It's because I believe in setting goals.

  554. For me, standing up here was a huge challenge,

  555. but I realized that if I wanted to grow, I had

  556. to push myself outside of my comfort zone.

  557. It's wild how fast four years went by.

  558. Seems like it was yesterday.

  559. We were freshmen, or should I say fresh meat as we call them

  560. from learning locker codes.

  561. Raise your hands if you still don't know

  562. how lockers fully work.

  563. Come on. I'm expecting everyone to finding classes to try

  564. to make friends without looking awkward.

  565. We've grown a lot over these past four years from battling

  566. the SATs and Acts.

  567. Oh, and who could forget our first football game getting

  568. canceled because it had mosquito disease?

  569. Classic. And as seniors, the class

  570. of 26 showed the best school spirit ever.

  571. Just look at our sports game.

  572. Who else could say they're part of one

  573. of the top student sections in Massachusetts?

  574. So to all my fellow classmates, I encourage you to chase

  575. after the things that make you nervous.

  576. Whether it's joining a club, I joined one,

  577. went once, never went back.

  578. Trying out for a team or just speaking up in class.

  579. Don't let fear hold you back.

  580. The feeling of accomplishment you get from achieving

  581. something you thought was impossible is truly amazing.

  582. I should probably never be trusted to give a field full

  583. of 18-year-old life advice.

  584. But if I could, I will leave you at this one thing.

  585. It would be this. Never let fear stop you from

  586. chasing dream you.

  587. Sorry. Never let fear stop you from chasing

  588. the life you dream about.

  589. We only get one shot at this life.

  590. So take risks, work hard, and go

  591. after the things that truly matter to you.

  592. Be remembered as someone who dared to dream big

  593. and settle someone who settled for less.

  594. I'm sure you've heard this before,

  595. but in the words of John Lennon, you may say, I'm a dreamer,

  596. but I'm not the only one.

  597. I hope someday you will join us in the world.

  598. We'll live as one.

  599. As we step into this world, fill with challenges,

  600. let's hold onto our dreams

  601. and work together to create a better future.

  602. May we be the generations generation that connects, accepts,

  603. and leads with peace and understanding.

  604. We'll carry these experiences

  605. of our past four years at Na chii with us

  606. as we move on to the next chapter.

  607. Let's embrace the future with confidence, kindness,

  608. and a sensitive venture.

  609. The world is waiting for us. Class of 2026.

  610. Congratulations and best of luck

  611. to each and every one of you.

  612. Oh, Nick.

    Thank you, Nick.

  613. Now I would like to introduce our second senior address

  614. given by Ella Kelly.

  615. Congratulations. Class of 2026.

  616. We made it. We made it.

  617. Despite the pages of late assignments, tests,

  618. we really assumed we didn't need to study for.

  619. And cold weather urging us to stay in bed

  620. for a few more minutes.

  621. I think I can safely assume that if anyone was in my place

  622. and had to thank someone that helps them get

  623. through these four years, they'd say their fear of failure.

  624. Maybe their parents if they're feeling sentimental,

  625. but mostly Duncan.

  626. Really, I think everyone owes their year to Duncan.

  627. As you leave Natick and move across the country,

  628. or perhaps stay right where you are, you are expected

  629. to grow and change along with your life.

  630. And what a big change this is.

  631. It's like the first, Tim, you changed your junk in order.

  632. Think about the order you would get as a little kid,

  633. a hot chocolate, maybe a colada,

  634. and the dye would stain your lips and mouth.

  635. All this with a donut.

  636. Then came the day that you changed your order.

  637. Picture it with me. You're in line.

  638. A few people are ahead of you so you have time to choose.

  639. And for a little kid, it's big change.

  640. You aren't supposed to know

  641. what you want right away says the elderly people

  642. who always sit in the comfy chairs in the corner.

  643. There's four people in line

  644. and the man at the front gets a black coffee.

  645. It's a stable choice, but he looks tired.

  646. You still don't know what you want.

  647. As the line moves up, the woman at the front gets a latte

  648. with more caramel than actual coffee.

  649. And the woman after that gets a refresher with lemonade.

  650. All of a sudden you're at the front of the line.

  651. A grumpy Bostonian lady is waiting for you to order.

  652. And you are scared, but you choose your drink anyways.

  653. Now, some of you spat out your drink as soon

  654. as you took the first sip

  655. and some of you haven't looked back on your hot chocolates

  656. in S, the vast majority of you changed your drink

  657. over the years, multiple times over.

  658. And you'll do the same thing in your future.

  659. You will change and grow and learn to be yourself.

  660. It's scary, but so was changing your dunking drink.

  661. You survived that. So you are going to survive this too.

  662. Do what you love.

  663. Be what you want to be and love your drink.

  664. No matter how popular or niche it might be.

  665. Get your matcha and go to your liberal arts college.

  666. Order a cold brew on the way to your trade school.

  667. Get a new drink every single day

  668. because it's your order and it's your life.

  669. You are still that little kid in the Dunking line

  670. just taller and with the new knowledge that no matter

  671. what you get, everything is going to turn out.

  672. Okay.

  673. Thank you Ella. I would like to introduce Corin Dior

  674. and Maggie Lee, members of our speech

  675. and debate team who will be announcing the names

  676. of our graduates as they receive their diplomas.

  677. Woo.

  678. Come this way.

  679. You can just boss us around.

  680. Just boss because basically she doesn't believe me.

  681. But even today I am like, we need to boss me around.

  682. She was like, you tell me again.

  683. I'm like, no, no

  684. real doing okay.

  685. You need water, please. You

  686. thank you.
