Dichroic Plastic Mic, Santa Barbara, CA © 1984
Updated 5 days ago
Recorded on 3/4" U-Matic, the mic is an amplified, thin piece of plastic that changes colors as it moves in the wind. Damaged original video restored in 2021 now in HD. A small piezo transducer was attached to this dichroic plastic.

All use microphone/objects with piezo materials as sound inputs. These have been transcoded from SD to HD. All tapes were baked to cure 'sticky shed syndrome.' Other pieces did not fare so well.
