First and foremost, this is not a scam. The Community Electricity Aggregation program has been in Massachusetts since 1997, and there are 226 municipalities currently benefitting from this program. Now is your chance to take advantage of this. STATE LAW requires towns with Community Electricity programs to offer them as “opt out only” programs due to towns needing the collective buying power and load certainty to attract bids from qualified electricity suppliers that will be to your benefit. If you do not opt out before the deadline, you will be automatically enrolled in the program; however, you can opt out at any time with no penalty. With municipal aggregation, our energy cost per kilowatt-hour will be below the current National Grid rate and will not change for 50 months. This will bring stability to your energy bills and protect you from seasonal rate increases. Please join us on August 26th at 6:00pm in the Theater at Maria Weston Chapman Middle School (1051 Commercial St.) for a community meeting to learn more about this program.
