Comstock Charter Township - January 16, 2025 Township Board Special Meeting Highlights
Updated about 3 hours ago

The Comstock Township Board announced a temporary moratorium on large renewable energy projects such as solar and wind farms over 100 megawatts, to allow more time for impact studies. The board also addressed public concerns regarding the roles and responsibilities of the Township Supervisor and Superintendent. Public Comments expressed opinions on the performance of Superintendent Scott Hess and unprofessionalism from other Board members. The board emphasizes the importance of respectful discourse during meetings. Discussions also included potential changes to public comment procedures and the need for transparency in Township decisions. The board met in closed session to deliberate a vote of confidence and responded to a resident letter concerned about representation and power dynamics between elected officials having only voting responsibilities and township staff having the power of administration. The board widely supported the work of Scott Hess, heard grievances, but ultimately were not persuaded to terminate the Superintendent. Such a termination would have required the payment of the remaining contract. Supervisor Martin closed the meeting thanking the Township for having hard conversations in a civil manner and welcomes continued discussion and public comment.
