June 15 is Greater Galesburg Day - get out and enjoy the great weather! Here are the highlights from the June 3, 2024 Galesburg City Council meeting. The Galesburg fire department hired a new firefighter in addition to another firefighter graduating the fire academy, bringing their active personnel to 13. Galesburg fire fighters assisted with rescue and recovery efforts at Pavilion Estates after the tornados. Galesburg community members brought pizza and subs to the firefighters to support their hard work. DPW will be flushing hydrants Wednesday to Friday. Residents are reminded to run their water until it's clear and stay tuned for updates. They are also filling potholes throughout town during June. The Council approved a contract award for lead services verification and potholing to Waste Recovery Systems of Wyoming with a bid of $172,424 which will be covered by a grant awarded to the city of Galesburg. The Council also reviewed 2024 and 2025 budget expenses and tabled the discussion until the June 24th meeting.
