The city of Kalamazoo will putting parts of Portage Rd. and Cork St. on a "road diet" and slimming down four lanes to three (two lanes and a turning lane). The goal of the project is to make portions of these roads much safer. The city has already implemented this strategy on other roads, including parts of Whites Rd., Parkview, and Oakwood Rd.
