Question 7 on the Massachusetts ballot this November involves the development of single-family homes and land use. A “Yes” vote on Question 7 would support a statewide law that would require cities and towns to permit single-family homes to be built on residentially zoned lots that meet certain standards. Those lots would have to stretch at least 5,000 square feet in area—a couple hundred feet more than a regulation NBA basketball court—while also providing access to public water and sewer services as well as having at least 50 feet on a street or public way. We spoke with Chief Housing Economist at the Pioneer Institute Andrew Mikula and Massachusetts Municipal Association Executive Director Adam Chapdeline, who respectively advocated on behalf of a “Yes” vote and a “No” vote on Question 7.
